The Man Who Sold the World

This week’s instalment of Music Monday is The Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie from their 1970 album, The Man Who Sold the World. The Nirvana version is from their 1994 album, MTV Unplugged in New York.

Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain was introduced to the song by drummer Chad Channing, who had bought a used copy of the album, and was surprised to discover it was by Bowie. Their 1993 MTV Unplugged performance brought the song to a new generation of listeners, and Bowie later re-recorded an acoustic version, which he described as a nod to Nirvana popularising it.
