This week’s instalment of Music Monday is Valerie by The Zutons from their 2006 album, Tired of Hanging Around. The Amy Winehouse & Mark Ronson version is from their 2007 album, Version.

Amy Winehouse became a fan of the Zutons single and was invited to join Mark Ronson’s album of soul covers of guitar records. Ronson struggled to hear her singing it, yet the horn-driven Motown-style rework became a bigger UK hit than the original and is now the version most people know.
